QuotaFX 1.4: Rack, eight CHOMP banks and 64 effects
Rack mode, eight CHOMP banks, sixteen additions and major work on the familiar effects.

QuotaFX started with a very direct idea: choose an effect and put your hands on it. That still matters to me. I want to grab a loop, turn a knob and hear the result immediately.
But sometimes I want to build a chain, leave several things in place and adjust each effect separately. Other times I want to hold a combination, move to a clean bank and bring that combination back with one tap. QuotaFX 1.4 brings those approaches into the same 64-effect collection.
Three ways to play
SP Mode keeps the focused workflow: one selected effect, six CTRL macros and sixteen favorite pads. Use knobs, vertical faders, horizontal faders or switches in the combinations that feel right to you.
CHOMP Mode is the performance surface. Each tile is a finger or mouse ride. Several effects can be active together, and HOLD keeps a combination at the amounts you set.
Rack Mode starts with an empty chain. Add up to eight inserts, choose their order and reach each effect’s six controls. Signal enters insert 1, passes into insert 2 and continues through the chain to the output. Bypass an insert, move it up or down, or remove it. Each insert keeps its own settings.

Eight CHOMP banks, one shared layout
A–H recalls eight separate combinations of held effects and amounts. Only the selected bank is audible. Leave a bank clean for an instant return, or prepare several different textures and switch between them.
The banks share the same effect order. Paging also stays independent from the bank’s held combination: move between pages to reach the effects you want, then recall the bank with those amounts intact.
The largest page is now 32 tiles. You can still choose 8 or 16. At 32, two pages reach all 64 effects. Bank selection is MIDI mappable, so it can sit alongside the controls you already use in a host or on a controller.

Sixteen additions
Fifteen new creative effects join 303 VinylSim, newly added to QuotaFX:
- Dub Matrix: two delay lanes with feedback and reverb.
- Grain Stretch: granular time stretching.
- Buffer Shuffle: captured audio rearranged into new phrases.
- Feedback Drive: saturation inside a feedback path.
- Pitch Ladder: echoes that climb or descend by interval.
- Band Shuffle: separate rhythmic grids for low and high bands.
- Spectral Smear: blurred and stretched spectral detail.
- Twin Drift: two drifting modulation voices.
- Spectral Delay: frequency-shaped echoes.
- Ring Motion: ring modulation with movement.
- Orbit: spatial motion.
- Carrier: carrier-based modulation.
- Reverse Room: reversed ambience.
- Body Print: resonances shaped around different bodies and materials.
- Spectral Gate: level-dependent openings across the spectrum.
- 303 VinylSim: another vinyl-inspired character in the collection.
That brings the library from 48 to 64 effects. These additions move further into grain, spectral processing, resonant bodies and feedback without losing the hands-on controls.
Revisiting the effects I already use
DJFX Looper is my favorite effect, and it received substantial DSP work in this release. I compared it by ear against the hardware, alongside the older QuotaFX version. Getting the length, speed, reverse behavior and loop transitions to feel right mattered more than adding another feature to the list.
Super Filter, Backspin, Scatter, Isolator, Cassette Sim and JUNO Chorus were revisited too. Existing parameter identities and presets remain in place. The hardware-inspired effects are Rare Data implementations; this is not a promise that every effect and setting is a bit-identical emulation.
A free way into the lineup
DJFX Looper is also available as its own completely free effect. It has the same focused three controls, with knobs or sliders, scope views and Momentary or Toggle Loop behavior.
DJFX Looper is free on the released desktop and supported Force platforms. The iPhone/iPad release is still pending. Source remains private for this release.
Hear the DSP before choosing a workflow
The Rare Data Radio player auditions the actual effect implementations compiled to WebAssembly. The new engine contains the full 64-effect bank. The browser audition runs one effect at a time; Rack and CHOMP’s full performance workflows live in the native app.
Get QuotaFX 1.4 through Rare Data HQ for Mac, Windows and Linux. The iPhone/iPad 1.4 update is submitted to Apple separately; existing purchases remain unlocked. Each host instance can use its own mode, so you can place different QuotaFX workflows on different tracks and buses.
