Hands-on FX.
On every track.
Twenty-six performance effects — some modeled by ear after the SP-404 MK2's, some all our own — with twelve hands-on macros, a live scope, and favorites you can slam from a controller. One plugin, on every track in your DAW.
macOS & Windows · AU · VST3 · Standalone · 30-day free trial · no account required.

PROJECT
Instant. Like the hardware.
SP-style effects only feel right if they hit the instant you touch them. QuotaFX runs at zero latency — Ableton’s own device readout shows Latency: 0 samples. Perform, automate, and resample in real time, with no delay between your move and the sound.
Not a recreation — every one of QuotaFX's 26 effects here is the actual plugin C++, compiled to WebAssembly and running live on the station. Same DSP, in your DAW, at zero latency.
Built for people who already think in pads and knobs
If you make beats around an SP-404, an MPC, or a controller, QuotaFX brings that hands-on, performance-first feel to every track in your session — as many instances as you want, fully automatable, no bouncing out to hardware.
Beatmakers
Run drums and loops through Scatter, Vinyl Sim, and DJFX Looper right in the box.
SP-404 / MPC users
That hands-on FX feel, mapped to a controller, on every channel.
Performers
Favorites in Toggle or Momentary, slammed live, with the scope reading your signal.
Mixers
Super Filter, Cassette Sim, Space Echo, and Compressor for color and glue.
26 effects, and growing.
Some are modeled by ear after SP-404 MK2 classics; others are entirely our own. Pick one and the controls re-draw to match — flip a knob to a tempo-synced delay and the readout switches from percent to note divisions. One instance, not 26 windows, with more effects landing in updates.

Dialed in, not cloned
Scatter, Downer, Cassette Sim and the rest were tuned A/B against an SP-404 MK2 until they landed in the same place — the cyclic slowdown on Downer, the musical step pattern on Scatter, the tone-stack and dropouts on Cassette Sim. It's a from-scratch take, not a copy of Roland's code.
- • Scatter rebuilt around musical 1/16 & 1/32 steps with per-type stutter/reverse patterns
- • Downer does the SP's even pitch-down-and-snap-back, not a tape stop
- • Cassette Sim with the real six controls: Tone, Hiss, Age, Drive, Wow/Flutter, Catch
One control surface for all 26
QuotaFX puts an SP-style control layer over every effect, so your hands and your controller never have to relearn the layout.
- 12 CTRL macros
Absolute, hands-on, and MIDI-mappable as their own class.
Select, Toggle, or Momentary — right-click ON to choose, like the SP direct-FX keys.
- MAP mode
Learn a controller in seconds. Macros and favorites map separately.
- Live oscilloscope
Signal-through trace that fades out when the line goes quiet.
- Smart defaults
Double-click any knob to jump to that effect's real default.
- Synced readouts
Flip Sync on and Rate/Time show note divisions instead of percent.

Color-code every instance
Eight dual-tone presets — Grape, Ember, Solar, Acid, Mint, Ice, Bubble, Mono — or build your own from two colors. The theme recolors the whole UI, scope included, and saves with the instance so you can tell your drum bus from your vocal chain at a glance.

Before you grab it
Will it run in my DAW?
Yes — QuotaFX is an AU / VST3 plugin (and a standalone app), so it loads in any modern DAW. No SP-404 or any hardware required, and you can run as many instances as you want across your session.
How close is it to the SP-404 MK2?
The SP-404 MK2 was the inspiration, and several effects — Vinyl Sim, Cassette Sim, Scatter and others — were modeled by ear against it. But QuotaFX is its own instrument: its own look, its own control layer, and effects that were never on the SP. It starts at 26 and grows with updates.
Which formats and systems?
AU, VST3, and Standalone. macOS (signed and notarized) and Windows. Load it on as many of your own machines as you like.
How does the trial work?
The 30-day trial is built into the plugin. Install it and the clock starts the first time you open it — full features, no watermark, no account. Enter a license any time to unlock it for good.
Can I map a hardware controller?
Yes. Hit MAP, wiggle a knob or pad, and you're mapped. The 12 CTRL macros and the 6 favorites map as separate classes, so a fader bank and your pads don't fight over the same controls.
Refunds?
That's exactly what the free trial is for — try it for 30 days before you pay. See the refunds page for the full policy.
