SP MODE01

Pick it. Punch it. Play it.

The hardware-style workflow: one selected effect, six consistent CTRL macros, and sixteen assignable favorites. Reach the complete library through MFX pages and perform with Select, Toggle or Hold pads.

  • Knobs, vertical faders or horizontal faders, per CTRL
  • Momentary or toggle effect switches
  • MFX Hold or Latch, with MIDI Learn
CHOMP MODE02

More hands-on. More at once.

A simultaneous multi-effect engine with 48 assignable positions. Each complete tile is a finger or mouse ride. Combine effects, HOLD a gesture, and tune how several parameters move together.

  • Show 8, 16, 32 or all 48 positions
  • Assign, move, swap and tune every ride
  • Active effects process in visible order

New in 1.3

Four new directions.

Original effects built for movement, rhythm and the moment between sections.

45

Shuttle

Reverse / stop / double time

Ride captured audio through reverse, a complete stop, normal speed and double speed. Turn a transition into something you can play.

46

Reflex

Transient-reactive repeats

Catch the audio just before a hit and send it into a repeat. Let the incoming rhythm help shape the gesture.

47

Wrap Filter

Resonant spectral movement

Move resonant bands through the spectrum, then wrap them around again. A different kind of sweep to ride into a new section.

48

Contour

Attack / body shaping

Shift the balance between a sound’s attack and its body. Push the hit forward or reshape what hangs behind it.

Tune

One move. Your response.

Assign any effect to any position. Move or swap complete positions, map up to four parameters to a ride, set From and To endpoints, and choose Linear, Fine, Punch, Smooth, Log or stepped response.

A few useful details

Before you hit play.

What’s the difference between SP Mode and Chomp Mode?

SP Mode runs one selected effect through six consistent CTRL macros and sixteen assignable favorites. Chomp Mode has 48 assignable performance positions that can process several effects simultaneously, in visible order. Both draw from the same 48-effect library.

Which platforms and plug-in formats are supported?

On macOS: AU, VST3 and standalone. On Windows: VST3 and standalone. On iPhone and iPad: AUv3 and standalone. Load the AUv3 in COMPA, AUM, Cubasis, Drambo, Loopy Pro, Logic Pro for iPad, GarageBand or another compatible host.

Can I save my Chomp tunings and use them in another session?

Yes. A saved host session restores its own Chomp state. For reusable setups, open Tune > Setups to save a named setup in the shared on-device library and load it in another instance or host. Import or export a .quotafxsetup file to move a setup between devices. You can also choose a default for new instances; it does not overwrite existing saved sessions. This is local storage and file sharing, not automatic cloud sync.

Is this an official Roland product or a one-to-one SP-404 clone?

No. The SP-404 MKII inspired the hardware-style workflow and several effects, but QuotaFX is an independently developed Rare Data instrument. Its own DSP, Chomp surface and original effects make it its own thing. No Roland hardware is required.

How do the desktop and App Store purchases work?

The macOS/Windows desktop license is $59, one time, with a 30-day desktop trial. The iPhone/iPad edition is a separate App Store purchase with a single non-consumable unlock at the price shown by Apple. No subscription. A desktop license does not unlock the iOS edition, or vice versa.

Does everyone get a new seven-day iOS trial?

No. Version 1.3 grants one fresh seven-day window only to a genuine, existing QuotaFX trial record on a device that has not already been unlocked or reset. Brand-new production users purchase to unlock processing. Existing purchases remain unlocked.

Can I record a USB groovebox without opening a host?

Yes. The standalone recorder captures the post-effect performance as a 24-bit WAV. Connect a compatible class-compliant USB audio device and choose your input and output. Available monitoring routes depend on the device and operating system; speaker output is not guaranteed for every USB device.
