Quota FX 1.3 Turns 48 Effects Into a Playable Instrument

Quota FX 1.3 adds four effects, a 48-control CHOMP performance workspace, reusable setups, standalone recording, responsive layouts, and a new Scope Glass view.

The real Quota FX Chomp performance controls with a 1.3 badge and the headline 48 FX, Built to Play.

Quota FX 1.3 is available for Mac and Windows. This update brings the effect count to 48, adds a new CHOMP performance workspace, makes performance layouts reusable, and lets the standalone app record what you play.

Quota FX is built around the idea that an effect can be played like an instrument. Version 1.3 gives that idea a larger, more flexible control surface.

Four new effects, 48 in all

Version 1.3 adds Shuttle, Reflex, Wrap Filter, and Contour, bringing the collection to 48 effects. They join the filters, delays, modulation, pitch, lo-fi, glitch, looping, and performance tools already in Quota FX.

Every effect remains available in the plugin and standalone workflow. The browser showcase uses the same C++/JUCE effect engine, although a browser cannot reproduce every host-timing and random-performance condition exactly.

CHOMP: one surface for the controls you actually perform

CHOMP gives you 48 assignable finger sliders. Pick the parameters you want, put them in the order that makes sense to your hands, and tune their useful ranges. A setup can be sparse and focused or turn into a full performance surface.

Assignments and tuning persist with the host state. You can also save named setups, load them in another session, export or import a portable setup file, and choose the setup new instances should start with. There is no cloud-sync requirement; the files stay under your control.

SP Mode gets more personal

SP Mode can mix knobs with vertical or horizontal faders, and each control can have the shape that suits the parameter. The result is less like a fixed plugin panel and more like a controller you arrange for a specific set or track.

Responsive portrait and wide layouts make that surface more useful across different screens. Scope Glass adds a visual layer without replacing the hands-on controls.

Record the performance

The standalone app can record a performance to 24-bit WAV, including live USB audio input when the selected device and route support it. That makes it possible to treat Quota FX like an external performance box: route sound in, play the effects, and keep the result.

Formats and price

The desktop release includes:

  • macOS AU, VST3, and standalone formats;
  • Windows VST3 and standalone formats.

Quota FX is $19.99 USD as a one-time desktop purchase for Mac and Windows, with a trial available through Quota HQ. The iPhone/iPad App Store edition is a separate purchase.
