Launch recap / 1.3
COMPA Is Here for iPhone and iPad
COMPA launched September 9 as a groovebox companion for iPhone and iPad. CHOMP, recording, sequencing, routing, Quota Stems, Quota Kits, and a session built around the gear you already use.

COMPA launched on September 9, 2026 for iPhone and iPad.
I built it to sit beside the gear you already use. Keep the groovebox at the center, and bring COMPA in for the parts of the session where a companion helps. In Mexican slang, a compa is a close friend. That is the job: be there when your groovebox needs a recorder, a pattern, an effect, a sound to sample, or a route into the rest of the session.
One session around your hardware
COMPA brings recording, clips, arrangement, MIDI, audio routing, effects, and sampling into one session. Supported hardware can get a tailored device view, while class-compliant MIDI and audio gear can still take part through the routes the device and iOS expose.
You can keep the groovebox at the center and ask COMPA to do one job, or let it hold more of the session. Record a take. Capture a pattern. Route audio through an effect. Build an arrangement. Keep a useful moment you played before you remembered to press Record. MIDI Capture works with MIDI the connected device actually sends; it cannot recover a pattern that never left the hardware.
CHOMP is where a sound becomes playable
Load a sample into CHOMP, find the section you want, and turn it into pads. Chop by hand or use the available detection tools, tune and shape the result, sequence it, resample it, and bring it into the rest of the song.
COMPA 1.3 now lets a four-stem Quota Stems separation live on one CHOMP pad as aligned drums, bass, other, and vocals. MIDI Capture and the expanded Audio Recall also make it easier to rescue an idea after it happens.

Quota tools are part of the workflow
Quota Stems and Quota Kits are included inside COMPA. Separate a song into vocals, drums, bass, and other, or prepare sampler material without leaving the session. These are COMPA workspaces; the desktop Quota products remain separate apps and purchases.
The next major update, COMPA 1.4, is in development. The public preview describes other-app and web capture, Quota DS dialogue sampling, DJ decks, Pad Scratch, and a wider set of routing and editing improvements. It is coming soon, but it is not released yet.
Available now
COMPA is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. The US offer is $24.99 USD through October 14, 2026, then $39.99 USD beginning October 15, 2026. It is one upfront purchase with no subscription or separate feature purchase. Prices in other storefronts vary.

Thank you to everyone who tested it, reported the strange cases, connected real hardware, and helped turn the original idea into something I can finally put beside the gear.
