DJFX Looper support

A free short-loop audio effect from Rare Data.

Start with audio.

DJFX Looper is an audio effect, not a sound-generating instrument. Put it on a track that is already playing in COMPA or another compatible AUv3 host. In standalone, connect or select an audio input, use headphones, allow microphone access if needed, and unmute input if asked.

Length, Speed and Loop

Length ranges from 0.012 to 0.230 seconds. Speed +100 plays forward, 0 stops moving playback, and negative values reverse it. The app’s Loop button defaults to Momentary: hold to engage and release to let go. Choose Toggle in Settings to latch it.

Length still shapes the rolling sound with Loop OFF. Use your host’s bypass for dry audio. Existing saved Toggle choices remain Toggle.

Install and recover with HQ

Use Rare Data HQ 1.1.3 or later. Choose DJFX Looper → Install & manage → This computer, Download latest, then Install / update. Close your DAW first. For removal, previous-version restore and interrupted-install recovery, use the same DJFX dialog; other products have separate installations.

Force edition

Force 3.9.1.2 with existing root SSH, executable storage and compatible QuotaScope helpers is the tested profile. HQ’s Force / MPC tab checks the setup; the DJFX package does not enable SSH or install helpers, startup hooks or firmware. Save your project and stop playback before installing. HQ restarts the instrument software. Add the insert to the track actually receiving audio.

Use three physical Q-Link knobs. Loop reads OFF at or below halfway and ON above halfway; this is different from desktop Momentary/Toggle behavior. Length and Speed use the same ranges. SETUP contains scope and palette controls. Other MPC models and firmware versions are unverified.

Desktop compatibility

HQ supports macOS 13+ on Apple silicon, Windows x64, and Linux x64 with glibc 2.39+ and a desktop browser. DJFX’s separate Mac installer is universal for Apple silicon/Intel on macOS 13+; its Linux standalone/VST3 archive requires glibc 2.38+. Standalone/manual installers include the standalone app, while HQ installs plug-ins.

The iPhone/iPad app is waiting for Apple review. Source remains private.
